If it were closer to a 20 year election cycle instead of 4 here in the US, I suspect that there would have been FAR more interest in prosecuting articles of impeachment, or other constitutional or statutory remedies.
Creating a sense of urgency in a person is easy but creating that same sense of urgency in a diverse populace is quite another matter: it seems to take about 6 years if the recent past is any indicator. Since we have elections more frequently than that, it stands to reason that the level of abuse worthy of provoking action (impeachment or violence) would have to be significantly higher than that recently exhibited. After all, what’s so urgent since we can just vote him out at the upcoming election?
FBI, CIA, please write me at any of my email addresses if you’d like more thoughts. If you STILL don’t have any of my addresses, please request them from the NSA archives of AT&T internet traffic, courtesy of the previous administration’s abuse of power.
OK, so I’m going to be a bit controversial now.
How much abuse of power can an elected government commit yet still remain in power? Have the days of bloody rebellion gone forever? We get used to seeing uprisings and violent street protests in 3rd world countries (is Thailand a 3rd world country - not sure), but what about Europe or America? We have recently witnessed extensive and violent street protests in Greece and there have been violent strike actions in France but have any of these really threatened to bring down the government of the country? Is it even still possible or have the national security forces become so powerful that rebellion and uprising are no longer an option? In the English civil war (1642-51) the monarchy was overthrown and parliament took power and executed King Charles I. In France the revolution was even more bloody and led to the formation of the Republic. In America the war of independence brought the bloody overthrow of British rule and the eventual creation of the USA. Have we all become so inured to abuse that we just bend over and take it?
(CIA and MI5 please note - I’m just asking the question, not advocating armed insurrection (yet).
