“New York says: Getdafugoutaheya.” Trademark Dispute Pits Apple vs. The Big Apple This annoys me on several levels:
Trademark disputes happen all the time, mainly because if they’re not actively defended then they can be lost to the public domain. As such, rarely are they news.
“Getdafugoutaheya.” I’m not what one would call an oratorical snob or a prosaic prude, but I expect higher caliber execution (I know, this is Wired; I’m still annoyed).
Apple is being hypersensitive here, even for Apple. The NYC campaign mark is more likely to be confused with a green canvas tote sold by Coach rather than any computer product. Unless they have an unannounced wireless, touchscreen baguette that’s soon to be released.
