Truly ubiquitous wireless access will be awesome, but it’s never going to replace the books on my shelf or the mp3s on my hard disk. “Having” something is just as much about practical convenience as it is about personal identity and civil liberty.

Perhaps not, but they will certainly complement each other quite nicely.  Access to a world of movies via Netflix (both physical and streaming deliver) hasn’t stopped my acquisition of DVDs for my shelf, but it has GREATLY reduced my acquisition to the handful of titles that I just HAVE to have.

When truly significant volumes of entertainment become available for streaming access, the threshold of quality for holding a copy of entertainment goes up.
